Join the Youth Collective
We are a group of 14 – 25 year olds coming together to be the voice of our generation. We campaign to end ‘honour’-based abuse (HBA) and harmful practices while developing and gaining invaluable personal and professional skills.
Why be a part of the Youth Collective?
- Be a changemaker: Play an active role in ending ‘honour-based’ abuse and harmful practices
- Shape the future: Bring your ideas to life in campaigns and initiatives
- Develop new skills: Gain real-life experience that prepares you for your future
- Make new friends: Meet & connect with others who want to create change
You can join the Youth Collective as an Ambassador or a Board Member. Read below to find out more about each role.
What is a Youth Collective Ambassador?
Youth Collective Ambassadors are at the heart of the Youth Collective’s work. They contribute their time and skills to help the Youth Collective Board deliver exciting campaigns, exhibitions, and events to raise awareness of ‘honour’-based abuse (HBA) and harmful practices amongst other young people.
Meetings will happen based on the needs of the Youth Collective’s projects– they won’t be as frequent as those of the Youth Collective Board. You must be at least 14 years old and based in the UK – ideally in the North West.
What is a Youth Collective Board Member?
The Savera UK Youth Collective is led by Youth Collective Board Members, each focusing on a specific area of interest within the group. Each area of interest is managed by a group of people working together, rather than being left to just one person. This allows everyone to have a chance to contribute and bring their unique ideas to the table.
Here are the different areas:
This area is about influencing decisions and driving change. Your role will involve taking the lead on creating impactful campaigns, contacting decision-makers, and spreading awareness about ‘honour’-based abuse and harmful practices through focused campaigning efforts.
You will focus on creating resources and delivering workshops to educate schools, colleges, and local communities about ‘honour’-based abuse and harmful practices. Responsibilities may include creating presentations, writing educational materials, and organising training sessions.
You will be a part of raising awareness of the Youth Collective’s work through creative content, including social media, videos and blogs. This area also involves managing social media platforms, crafting compelling stories, and ensuring the group reaches the right audience effectively.
You will be in charge of organising and running events such as exhibitions, conferences, and fundraisers, as well as supporting Savera UK events like its annual “March to End HBA”. Your responsibilities will include event planning, handling event details, and working with participants to create meaningful experiences. You will work closely with the fundraising group.
You will help to raise funds for Savera UK through your involvement at the Youth Collective. You will do this by organising charity events, running donation campaigns, and coming up with creative ways to get people involved and support the Youth Collective’s initiatives. You will work closely with the events group.
You will help make sure that everything is running smoothly behind the scenes. In this area, you will help manage recruitment, coordinate schedules, handle emails, and provide support to ensure the team operates effectively.
Youth Collective Board members dedicate more time than ambassadors and take on leadership responsibilities, guiding and supporting the ambassadors. No matter what area of interest you focus on, teamwork is key, and you’ll get to connect and work with a variety of people.
The Youth Collective Board meets every month to discuss ideas for new campaigns, projects, and to recruit Ambassadors to help end ‘honour’-based abuse (HBA) and harmful practices. You must be 16 to 25 yrs old and based in the UK – ideally in the North West.
